Minutes of the Monthly Board Meeting of June 11, 2003

The monthly board meeting of Danvers Youth Football, Inc. was held on June 11, 2003 at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Danvers, MA.

Attendance: Mark Arnoldy, Kevin Doble, Paul Fitch, Bill Harrison, Gary Jones, Tom Ladd, Debbie LeBlanc, Barry Little, Tom Marden, Bob Marraffa, Tom Opie, Stu Orloff, Brian Serino, Mike Skiotis, Rich Smith, Sam Valenti

The meeting was called to order by Sam Valenti, President at 8:23 PM.

I. Secretary’s Report (Tom Ladd)

· Approval of 05/14/2003 meeting minutes. Copies of the minutes were distributed for the review of all members present. A motion to accept the minutes as written was made by Mike Skiotis, seconded by Paul Fitch, and unanimously PASSED.

II. Treasurer’s Report (Tom Opie)

· Tom distributed the Treasurer’s Report as of 5/31/03. We have received $6,630 in registration income thus far (not including the second registration night in June) and $3,839 from the yearbook fundraiser (Production Marketing Services). The current cash balance is $23,679.

III. Registration (Tom Ladd)

· Tom distributed a summary of registrants to date. So far, 124 players and 102 cheerleaders have signed up for the 2003 season.

· Only 5 girls have registered for 5^th grade cheering. Debbie LeBlanc stated that grades 6-8 will be closed as of June 20^th, but the 5^th grade will remain open until the July meeting. It’s possible that the 5^th grade girls may be absorbed into the 6^th grade B cheering squad.

· Registration for football players will remain open until close to the beginning of the season. A list of 2002 players not yet registered for 2003 was circulated so that board members may contact them to follow up.

IV. Web Site Update (Gary Jones)

· Gary briefly described the new web site designed and urged all board members and coaches to provide content (game reports, photos, etc.). The need for coaches to take advantage of the “Coach’s” pages was also discussed.

V. Department Updates

· Publicity (Kevin Doble). Kevin will be selling DYF apparel at “Oldies Night” during the Danvers Family Festival week. He also reported that he is still trying to coordinate logistics for the UNH Football Camp with the Recreation Department.

· Cheering (Debbie LeBlanc). Debbie reported that she is working with Dave Mountain at the Recreation Department on a process for adding Liza Bauvais’ name to the stone at Memorial Field (along with Tom Pope and Sean McLaughlin). In addition, there will be a special dedication page to Liza in the 2003 DYF yearbook.

· Coaching appointments will be made by Mike at the July meeting.

VII. New Business

· Sam indicated that he would be attending the Cape Ann League meeting on June 18^th.

· We will once again be awarding a scholarship to the Bavaro Brothers Football Camp at DHS (July 14-18). Sam will be accepting nominations, beginning with incoming 8^th graders.

A motion to adjourn was made by Tom Ladd, seconded by Paul Fitch, and unanimously PASSED at 9:28 PM.
