I.                    Secretary’s Report (Tom Ladd)

Approval of 7/11/2001 & 7/18/2001 meeting minutes.  Minutes were distributed for the review of all members present.  A motion to accept the minutes as written was made by Ron Hennessey, seconded by Sam Valenti, and unanimously PASSED.

II.                 Purchasing & Equipment (Mike O’Gara)

·        Equipment distribution (helmets, shoulder pads, stickers) for 8th graders took place this evening.  Most registered players showed up and the process was reasonably smooth.

·        Equipment distribution for the 7th grade will be on Thu., 8/9; 6th grade on Fri., 8/10; 5th grade on Mon., 8/13; and 4th grade on Tue., 8/14.

·        A minimal amount of equipment from last year remains unreturned.  Mike Skiotis emphasized that ensuring all equipment is returned is the coach’s responsibility and warned that this would be a key determinant in the selection of coaches the following season.

·        Mike reported that the uniforms for the C teams have arrived and have been given to the coaches for sizing.  Shirts for the remaining divisions are expected in before 9/1.

III.               Registration

·        A registration summary and detail listing was distributed for review.  A few registrations continue to trickle in at all grade levels.

·        A motion to extend registration until the first game date (Sept. 9th) was made by Dave Perry, seconded by Ron Hennessey, and unanimously PASSED.

IV.              Football (Mike Skiotis)

·        Mike distributed the minutes of the DYF coach’s meeting held on 8/2.

·        All CORI forms must be completed and returned to Mike ASAP – no coach will be allowed on the field without one.  Cheerleading CORI forms must be turned in by 8/15.

·        Mike will establish a practice field schedule with coaches for all divisions.

·        A new key for the Riverside School (lights) will be obtained from the town.  A $50 deposit is required.

·        Mike distributed the CAYFL schedules for the A and B teams to the coaches of those teams.

·        A CAYFL meeting for A & B coaches will take place on Wednesday, August 18.  Rosters must be finalized and all birth certificates presented at this meeting.

·        A meeting of CAYFL coaches will be held on Wed., 9/5 from 7:00 to 10:00 PM at Danvers High School.  Coaches at the AA, BB, and C levels will complete their schedules at this meeting.  Mike will maintain the master schedule and all coaches must report to him before finalizing games.  He will attempt to group games (i.e. Saturday tripleheaders) as much as possible for snack bar facilitation.  In addition, he strongly suggested that coaches obtain names/phone #’s of opposing coaches and to check in with them a week in advance of the scheduled game.

·        An issue relative to the start times of home games was discussed at length.  Last year game officials often pushed up starting times to begin immediately following the preceding game, thus causing concern that some parents may miss a portion of the game.  To remedy this situation, Mike agreed to schedule home games in 1:15 increments, rather than 1:30 as in the past.

V.                 Administration (Ron Hennessey)

·        Team pictures (Captive Images) have been scheduled for Saturday, September 8th from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

·        The current DYF insurance policy expires on 8/31 and the new one will take affect on 9/1.  The cost to the league will be approximately $1,300 for all football players and cheerleaders.  Ron will follow up and confirm with Dan Hurley this week.

·        Ron reported that sponsors have been lined up for nine teams and one cheering squad yielding $3,125 for the league.

·        All DYF apparel ordered to date has been received and will be distributed over the coming weekend.  Ron indicated that sales will continue at home games during the upcoming season.

·        Ron reported that the program books are being targeted for distribution by 9/15.  Ron will take team pictures at team practices for inclusion in the book.

VI.              Snack Bar

·        Mike Skiotis volunteered to spearhead the coordination of the snack bar if he can identify a partner to assist with scheduling, opening/closing, etc.

·        Dave Perry indicated that numerous people had checked off “Snack Bar” on the volunteer forms and suggested that a meeting of these people be held to identify a partner for Mike.

VII.            Football Evaluations

·        The schedule for football evaluations (at DHS) will be as follows:

A         8/15-16

AA       8/16-17

C         8/20

·        Rich Cleary will help coordinate the sessions.  Volunteers (i.e. DYF board members and coaches of other teams) will be needed each night to assist.

·        Head coaches should notify players of their team assignments as soon as possible following the evaluations.
