Minutes of the Monthly Board Meeting of August 13, 2003

 

 

The monthly board meeting of Danvers Youth Football, Inc. was held on August 13, 2003 at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Danvers, MA.

 

Attendance:      Kevin Doble, Paul Fitch, Bill Harrison, Ron Hennessey, Tom Ladd,   Debbie LeBlanc, Barry Little, Tom Opie, Marc Palazola, Mike Skiotis,           Rich Smith, Duke St. Pierre, Lyn Torrance, Sam Valenti

 

The meeting was called to order by Sam Valenti, President at 8:27 PM.

 

I.                    Secretary’s Report (Tom Ladd)

·         Approval of 7/9/2003 meeting minutes.  Copies of the minutes were distributed for the review of all members present.  A motion to accept the minutes as written was made by Paul Fitch, seconded by Ron Hennessey, and unanimously PASSED.

 

II.         Treasurer’s Report (Tom Opie)

·         Copies of the treasurer’s report were distributed to all members present.  Registration receipts exceed $21K so far (not including checks received tonight).  Fundraising income (yearbook) is $5,625 to date.  A motion to accept the treasurer’s report was made by Mike Skiotis, seconded by Ron Hennessey, and unanimously PASSED.

 

III.               Registration (Tom Ladd)

·         Tom distributed the current registration summary.  At this time, 150 players and 110 cheerleaders have signed up for the 2003 season.

·         Registration for cheering is now closed.  Football registrations will be accepted up until the CAYFL roster meeting (September 3rd).

 

IV.              Equipment Distribution

·         Sam Valenti reported that most football players have received their equipment and the process has been relatively smooth.  Coaches will need to coordinate with Tom Marden regarding any player who has not yet picked up equipment.

 

V.                 Player Evaluations

·         Evaluations for the A and B teams will take place on 8/15 and 8/18 at DHS (6:00-7:00 PM).  Ron Hennessey (A team) and Tom Ladd (B team) will coordinate.  Rich Smith, Duke St. Pierre, Tom Opie, Bill Harrison, and Paul Fitch all volunteered to assist.  We will need the scale, tape measure, cones, and a stopwatch.  Tom Marden will be at the equipment room at 5:45 both nights.  All players trying out will get a phone call on Tuesday, 8/19.

 

VI.              Other Department Updates

·         Operations (Paul Fitch).  Paul is working on scheduling officials/EMT’s for games, and expects the total cost to be approximately $4,500.

·         Football (Mike Skiotis).  Mike formally announced that Duke St. Pierre (JVB) and Tom Marden (C) have been appointed head coaches for the 2003 season.  Mike also handed out a tentative schedule which he will firm up by the August 20th CAYFL coaches meeting.

·         Administration (Ron Hennessey).  Ron handed out the envelopes and team picture schedule for 9/13 at DHS.  He also indicated that the league insurance (Doyle Insurance) is in place effective 9/1/03.

·         Publicity (Kevin Doble).  Kevin announced that he will be selling DYF apparel at the A & B evaluation sessions.

 

VII.            New Business

·         Sam reminded coaches of the CAYFL coaches meeting (8/20 in North Andover) and the league roster meeting (9/3 at DHS).

 

A motion to adjourn was made by Ron Hennessey, seconded by Mike Skiotis, and unanimously PASSED at 9:10 PM.
