Minutes of October 12, 2005 Board Meeting

 

 

The monthly board meeting of Danvers Youth Football, Inc. was held on October 12, 2005 at the Danvers Fire Station, Danvers, MA.

 

Attendance: Tom Ladd, Ron Hennessey, Rich Smith, Duke St.Pierre, Mike Mansfield, Catherine Wolniewicz, Karen Metzler, June Blanchette, Tom Marden, John Koburski, Garrett Burns, Scott Nathan, Greg Perry, Betsy Valles, Dan Thornell, Michael Kidney, Jim Bussone.

The meeting was called to order 8:10 p.m.

 

1.         Secretary’s Report

A motion was made by Tom Ladd to accept the minutes.  It was accepted by Ron Hennessey and seconded by Scott Nathan.  The minutes unanimously passed.

2.         Treasurer’s Report

A motion was made to accept the report.  It was accepted by Mike Mansfield and seconded Greg Perry.  The report unanimously passed.

3.         Snack Bar

The Snack bar schedule is complete.  Just a few volunteers needed.  It was requested that if you have a team on the field get a helper for the snack bar.  Four people are needed to help.  Scott Nathan has asked to step down as snack bar manager for next year.  A new manger will be needed for next season.  Scott Nathan will put together a manual to help the next manager. Barry Little set up a deal with Goodies that the league gets 20% of the prophets from the sale of Ice cream at the games.

Because of the approaching rain games may be played at Plains Park.  Scott Nathan will ask John Farmer if the American Little league will let us use their Snack Bar.  If snack bar can be used, signs to direct people, will need to be posted.

4.         Year Book

All coaches need to confirm the names for team pictures.  All pictures have been received.  A letter to the yearbook Company will be sent to confirm that yearbooks are completed before the Football Banquet (11/16/05).  The league would like to distribute them at the banquet.

5.         Apparel

Apparel is due in Monday, 10/17/05.  All ordered apparel will be distributed to coaches.  Coaches will only give merchandize to parents only.  Some parents are using merchandize as gifts.

6.         Banquet

Mike Mansfield is getting things together for the banquet.  He will need a general count of how many will attend.  The menu will be the same as last year.  The prices this year is $16.50 for adults and $10.95 for the kids. 600People are expected.  Forms and an envelope will be given to each coach.  Each child will be allowed 2 guests.  Make checks out Danvers Youth Football.  Ron Hennesey suggested that the tickets go up to $20.00 per ticket.  He felt it would keep the numbers down.

The deadline for pictures for the slide presentation are due October 31st. Pictures should be given to Karen Mansfield or Mike Mansfield at his Riverside practice on Mondays.

Guest speakers will be John Sullivan and high school football captains.

8th grade gifts for the cheerleaders will be Falcons blankets @ $15.00 each.  Football players will get a trophy from Crown trophies.  Trophies will be simple with each player’s name.  Tom Marden will order them.  A team coaches will give a list of 8th grade players.

Banquet Decorations will be done by June Blanchette and Catherine Wolniewicz.  At 3:00 they can get into the hall.  Banquet starts at 6:00.

7.         Danvers Youth Football Night

All Danvers youth football players & cheerleaders will get in free with their uniform or shirt for Friday night’s game.

8.         Practice field lights

Tom Ladd had a meeting with the Town and the recreation department.  They talked about getting lights for the burley street by the baseball field.  He was not getting very far with it.  The league needs to continue to work toward it for next year.

9.         Cheering

They are still waiting for mats from NEATCO.  Mats at the High school have disappeared. John Sullivan told Cheering they must take mats in and out of the gym.

November 12th is cheering competition.   Volunteers are needed to help out.  Cheering would like football players to come and support the cheerleaders.

10.       Equipment Room

Tom Marden would like to discuss the equipment room at the next meeting November 9th.

Tom Ladd wants coaches to ask volunteering parents to come in ½ hour before their game.  He also reminded coaches that the last team off the field needs to help break down the snack bar.

11.       New Business

Tom Ladd proposed that the league donate $50.00 to the recreation department for the program at the senior center “Raising a Student athlete”

It was second by Mike Mansfield

            Rydell Clinic is coming up. League will send in names of all coaches.

Three sets of keys were found at the snack bar after the North Reading Saturday games. 

 

Tom Ladd motioned to adjourn the meeting at 8:46. It was accepted by Ron Hennessey and seconded by Tom Marden.
