Minutes of May 11, 2005 Board Meeting

 

The monthly board meeting of Danvers Youth Football, Inc. was held on May11, 2005 at the Knights of Columbus, Danvers, MA.

 

Attendance:  Tom Ladd, Ron Hennessey, Rich Smith, Duke St. Pierre, Mike Mansfield, Catherine Wolniewicz, Karen Metzler, Marc Palazola, Barry Little, June Blanchette, Tom Marden, John Koburski, Garrett Burns, Scott Nathan, Gregg Perry.

 

The meeting was called to order 8:01 p.m.

I.                   Equipment

Tom Marden is looking for volunteers to help take out helmets to get ready for certification.

There was a rebate from Rydel so there is a $60.00 credit. Tom will order shoulder pads after they go through the old ones.

II.                Secretary’s Report

A motion was made by Rich Smith to accept the minutes and Catherine Wolniewicz seconded it. 

Minutes unanimously passed.

III.             Treasurer’s Report

A motion was made by Gregg Perry to accept the report and Garret Burns seconded it. 

The report unanimously passed.

2005 DYF Scholarship A motion was made by Rich Smith to accept the minutes and Catherine Wolniewicz seconded it. 

Minutes unanimously passed.

IV.              Coach Applications

A new form for coaches was made up.  Marc Palazola would like everyone wanting to be a coach to fill out an application.

After June 8th a coach list will be compiled.

In cheering application were sent out to all the girls in the 8th grade squad and the past coaches.  They are due back by the last day in May.

V.                 Registration

Tom Ladd stated that he thought that the first night of registration went smoothly.

Catherine Wolniewicz stated her concerns with the low registration counts in the 4th and 5th grade squads.  She requested that the league send out another letter to all the elementary schools.  Tom Ladd felt that we should wait and see how the second registration went.  Tom Ladd suggested a flyer could be posted at the elementary schools and at some Little League fields.

May 15th is the cut off date for discounted registration.  After that date the registration is $85.00 for a single registration and $125.00 for a family registration.

VI.              Cheering report

Catherine Wolniewicz has obtained space for cheering practice at the Thorpe school for the 4th grade.  Tom Ladd would like to have the schedule for the cheering practices.

Advisors for cheering are:

4th grade-         Debbie LeBlanc

5th grade-         June Blanchette

                                    6th grade-         Linda Gotts & Sheila Redfield

                                    7th grade-         Karen Metzler

                                    8th grade-         Claudia Krigest

Catherine attended the Cape Ann cheering meeting.  The league has decided that no more 24 girls will be able to compete and exhibit in each group.

They are requiring mandatory training for coaches.

Possible dates for competition are November 5th, 12th or October 27th.  It will be held in North Andover or Marblehead. 

The league will be establishing more protocols for half time shows.

 

VII.           New Business

The League commission meeting will be Thursday.  The Schedule may be given out them.

 

Tom Ladd requested that the Web site be used and updated.  Concerns that children’s picture will be posted on web site were brought up.  Garrett Burns suggested that parent fill out a form to give permission for children’s pictures to be used on the web site.

 

 

Tom Ladd announced that Bill Harrison is moving to Texas.

He wanted to thank him for all his help and dedication to the league.   The league would like to wish him and his family the best of luck.

 

Tom Ladd motioned to adjourn the meeting at 8:36.  Accepted by Scott Nathan seconded by Mike Mansfield.
